Description of Valves
Each of the valves on the Angel of Water® CM-1 Surround is named
and numbered. The valves and their functions are easy to learn and can
be mastered in a short period of time. Their descriptions are as follows:
Valves #1 and #2 are accessed through the small side door located
on the tower cabinet:
#1 Tank Fill – when open, allows water into tank
#2 Tank Drain – when open, empties tank
Valves #3 - #8 are accessed through the back folding door located on
the tower cabinet:
#3 Tank Maintenance Exit – when open, used for maintenance and
disinfection protocols
#4 Maintenance Flow – when open, allows water to flow through
nylon nipple for maintenance and disinfection protocols
#5 Recirculating Tank Maintenance Exit – when open, allows water
to exit recirculating tank for maintenance and trouble-shooting protocols
#6 UV Inlet/Patient Flow – when open, allows water into UV Filter
and then to the patient. When partially closed, slows flow to patient.
When fully open, allows full flow to patient
#7 Recirculating Tank Bypass – when open, keeps water from entering
small tank when Valve #8 is closed. Used for Valve Sequence B of Regular
Operation Mode as explained on p. 33
#8 Recirculating Tank Inlet – when open, allows water into small
tank Valves
#9 and #10 are accessed through the large door located on the basin
cabinet:
#9 Cold Inlet – when open, allows cold water source into System
#10 Hot Inlet – when open, allows hot water source into System
The following three valves are located on the fiberglass basin topside:
Volume Control Valve for Personal Sprayer (left side) - adjusts sprayer
water volume for personal hygiene and for rinsing basin
Viewing Tube Flush Valve (right side) - flushes waste matter through
viewing tube line and down drain
Water Mixing Valve (right side) - mixes hot and cold water for tank
fill and personal sprayer use
The following valve is located inside main tank:
Tank Level Valve - automatically shuts off water fill into large main
tank
The following valve is the only electrical valve on the System and
is located on the middle shelf of the tower cabinet. It is accessed
through the tower bifold doors.
Solenoid Valve - activated by FLOW switch(es) on control panel(s)
The following two valves are permanent plumbing safety features:
Basin Backflow Prevention (Ball Check) Valve - prevents water from
flowing back into the line once it has passed from the basin nipple
to the nozzle and into the person’s rectum This valve is located
underneath the basin and is connected directly to the basin nipple through
the basin wall.
Viewing Tube Sprayer Backflow Prevention (Spring-loaded) Valve –
prevents water that is flushed into viewing tube from backing into clean
water line This valve is located directly inside the basin cabinet large
doors. It is reachable on the upper right of the door opening.
Valve Sequences for System operation
The mode of operation for the Angel of Water® CM-1 Surround is called
regular operation Mode. All colon hydrotherapy sessions are to be conducted
in regular operation Mode Sequence A. The System is shipped with valves
preset for Regular Operation Mode Sequence A. Double check that the
valves are opened and closed as described below before beginning your
first session.
Regular
Operation Mode (used for all colon
hydrotherapy sessions)
Regular Operation features
water circulating from the main tank via the water cycling device to
the recirculating tank. An even and constant stream of gravity-fed water
then flows through the UV Filter to the patient at approximately 1 p.s.i..
(NOTE: Municipal water supplies generally flow at a rate of 60 or more
p.s.i..)
Valve Sequence A:
Open Valves #6 and #8 (#9 and #10 were set in OPEN position when System
was set up and should be left
OPEN always unless System plumbing maintenance requires otherwise).
Valves #3, #4, #5, and #7 are closed.
Then open Valve #1 and turn on and adjust Water Mixing Valve to fill
tank with water between 99 to 103 degrees
Fahrenheit (approximately 37 - 39 C.).
Close Valve #1 OR shut off Water Mixing Valve to stop water to main
tank at any level. However, water level
inside main tank shuts off automatically by Tank Level Valve once level
has reached top (about 8 gallons or 32 L).
Once full, close #1 and/or turn off Water Mixing Valve. As water is
needed in tank, open #1 and/or turn
on Water Mixing Valve to refill tank during session to prevent fluctuations
in water temperature.
Valve Sequence B:
Occasionally, the patient may feel as if no water is coming into the
colon. This may indicate that the nozzle is clogged at the tip with
waste material. The healthcare practitioner can facilitate unclogging
the nozzle without having the patient come off the nozzle. To unclog
nozzle with additional flow from large main tank, close
Valve #8. Then gradually open Valve #7 until flow is felt again by patient.
Once person feels water flowing, close Valve #7 completely and fully
open Valve #8.

In the unlikely event of a power outage to the System, have the patient
slide off the rectal nozzle and stop the session. You may resume session
once the power to the System has been restored.
Maintenance Sequence:
This sequence involves the opening of Valves #3, #4, and #5 and the
closing of Valve #6 during the tank disinfection protocol fully explained
on p. 34.
